Dr Barua is an Emergency Medicine Specialist and is presently the Director & Senior Consultant, Accident & Emergency, Ayursundra Superspecialty Hospital, Guwahati. He did his initial training and Masters in Emergency Medicine from George Washington University, USA at Peerless Hospital, Kolkata. Later Dr Barua went on to work at Rotherham District General Hospital, South Yorkshire, UK as Specialist Registrar and acquired the Membership of Royal College of Emergency Medicine (MRCEM), UK. He is also an Instructor of ACLS, BLS and PALS of American Heart Association.

Having been trained in India and UK, Dr Barua has been in practice for around 22 years, rendering his dedicated services towards developing Emergency departments and providing emergency care to the patients. His contributions towards developing the Emergency services and dedicated emergency care, in Ruby General Hospital, Kolkata has been widely appreciated. With a concerted effort from the entire team the Accident & Emergency Department of Ayursundra Superspecialty Hospital has been proudly recognised as a dedicated Trauma Centre and it is the First and the Only NABH accredited Emergency Department in Assam and the entire Northeast India.
